Independence Day

We remember the day when the First Continental Congress of this great nation we call America posted the Declaration of Independence from the biggest government and most powerful military in the history of the world.  I often reflect on the immense courage  the founders and first American soldiers required. and the sacrifices they made, to stand up and fight for the ideal of Freedom that so many today take for granted.

Whenever I start to think our campaign for U.S. Congress is too hard or we don’t have enough resources, I think about the young farmers-turned-soldiers on the front lines staring down the British Redcoats.  Could you imagine being a 16 year old farmer wearing rags and carring an old, cantankerous musket, staring down the Redcoats and facing what looked like almost certain death?  These brave soldiers gave their lives for economic freedom, individual liberty, and a representative Republic.  We should always remember their sacrifice and the principles that guided them.

Today, 236 years later, our government has grown too big.  The massive debt, spending, taxation, and federal regulations are destroying the economy and threatening our most basic individual freedoms.  We must elect a new Congress committed to reducing spending, size, and scope of government – otherwise we will be handing our children an America that is markedly different than the America we grew up in.  It will be an America dependent on government spending and control rather than Life and Liberty.

What do you want for your children?

It is time to fight once again – not with guns, but votes.  The battlefield is your neighborhood, community, school, and workplace.  I am asking you to go the extra mile this year in talking to your neighbors, friends, family, and co-workers about our campaign against big government.  Did you know that 30% of the eligible voters you know are not registered to vote?  Motivate them to register and get them to vote!

I need your support to win this seat for WE the People!  Thank you for your continued support.  If you would like to donate to our campaign, you can do so here: www.HernandezUSA.com

Have a safe and Happy Independence Day and may God bless you and the United States of America!

Hernandez Statement on Supreme Court Ruling

Tony Hernandez, the GOP-endorsed candidate for Congress in the Minnesota Fourth Congressional District, has released a statement about yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling upholding parts of the “Affordable Care Act”:

“The Supreme Court ruling on the divisive health care mandate will not be judged as a historic day in American history. What will be historic is the November 6th, 2012 election. This will be the day Americans decide whether they want a centralized, one-size-fits-all (except for members of Congress), big-government bureaucratic approach to health care, or a health care system based on the patient-doctor relationship, the states, and free enterprise.”

“The Affordable Care Act is designed to fail. It has not increased coverage, it has increased cost, it is a job killer, and the uncertainty President Obama has cast over the small business owners is incalculable. If we don’t elect new leadership this year – and advocate for positive alternatives, like the Health Care Compact – we will be very sad when we reflect on this day 20 years from now.”

“In Congress, I will fight for real health care reform policies that will lower the cost of care and coverage through competition, trusting the patient-doctor relationship, and giving the states more autonomy to develop their own independent health care models.”

“Thank you for choosing to stand with me. Your support is crucial to defeat Congresswoman McCollum’s failed big government policies.”

“If you stand with me on this issue, will you please donate $25, $50 or $100 or more today? We need your help.”

“Thank you for being an instrumental part of our campaign.”
